Seepage Well Drinking Water System

This system is created by digging a trench from the edge of the water reservoir or dugout to a hole with a steel or fiberglass casing that has been perforated to allow water to enter.
The trench and hole around the well casing is backfilled with gravel which acts as a filter bed for the water.
The well casing is usually 20 - 30 feet from the dugout and 10 to 20 feet deep.
For the people who have never heard of a dugout, it is a man made pond used to collect water in the areas where there is no ground water for wells.

Regular drilled wells are usually two types :

Large diameter wells. (24" to 36" in diameter)

This type of large well is usually used when the ground water recovery rate is under approx 6 gallons per minute.
The large area of the well casing acts as a water storage tank.
These wells are usually a maximum of 90 feet deep.

Small diameter wells. (4 to 8 inches in diameter) are used for deep wells (50 to 500 feet deep)

Lagoon Style Sewage System

A lagoon is a man-made pond used for temporary storage of household waste water. Liquid in the lagoon either evaporates or soaks into the ground.
Approx. every 2 to 4 years a septic service truck is brought in to pump out and clean the lagoon.

Ejector Style Sewage System

This system is used by homes with septic tanks that are divided into 2 compartments.
Liquid overflows into the second compartment and a liquid level control starts a pump that pumps the liquid from the tank out onto the fields through a special ejector pipe.
This pipe is designed to drain back into the ground after the pump shuts off so that the system does not freeze up in the winter.
The septic tank is pumped out once a year by a septic cleaning service.

Mound Style Sewage System

This system is similar to the ejector system except that instead of pumping the liquid out on top of the ground,
the waste water is pumped into a man made mound of porous material covered over with dirt. The water is filtered as it soaks back into the ground.
